The Listening Room
An evening of guided dialogue exploring what it means to truly listen — to others and to ourselves.

Building community through coffee, curated events, and the art of being present with one another.
Our Philosophy
In 17th-century London, coffeehouses were called “penny universities” — places where, for the price of a cup, you could sit beside strangers and exchange ideas that would shape science, politics, and culture for centuries.
The Parisian salons took it further — gathering writers, artists, and rebels around tables that birthed movements. The coffeehouse was never about the coffee. It was about the conversation.
Conversations carries that spirit forward. We’re a coffeehouse in Oldham, Greater Manchester, built on a simple belief: that the best things in life happen when people slow down, show up, and talk to each other.
“The best ideas are born over a cup of something warm and a willingness to listen.”

Community
I came in for a flat white and left with a friend I didn't know I needed.
There's something about this place that makes you want to say what you actually think, not what you think people want to hear.
My daughter asked me what a coffeehouse was. I brought her here. Now she gets it.
The open mic changed me. I'd never read my poetry aloud before. These strangers applauded like family.
In a world of screens and scrolling, this place reminds you what human company actually feels like.
I've had better conversations here in one evening than I've had online in a year.
They remember your name. They remember your order. They remember what you said mattered to you last time.
I moved to Oldham not knowing a soul. This place gave me a community before I even had curtains up.
